ABOUT NAHOMI XIMENEZ

Nahomi Ximenez is a Mexican- American multidisciplinary artist, curator and teacher, she has experience in art education since 2008 and has done individual and collective curatorial work in different cities in Mexico and Berlin. She studied a BFA in Visual Arts at the UANL in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico and a Masters in Visual Arts at the Instituto Superior de las Artes (today Universidad de las Artes) in Havana, Cuba. As an artist she has participated in group exhibitions with important artists in countries such as Mexico, United States, Colombia, Cuba, Poland, Denmark, Germany and Slovenia. In Mexico, she worked in the organization of the XI Festival of Visual Arts of Campeche. For 5 years she was academic coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts at the Escuela Superior de Artes de Yucatán and was a university professor at the same institution for 8 years, until the beginning of 2020, teaching in both Bachelor's and Master's programs. As an artist she did a residency at the Lui Velazquez space in Tijuana, and another one as a curator at Node Center for Curatorial Studies in Berlin, both residencies culminating in exhibitions. She participated in the International Performance Festival City of Women in Slovenia and in the group exhibition Viva Mexico! at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art in Poland.
Since 2020 she has been living and working in Texas teaching art at high school level, producing art and curating projects. She is an AP Art History reader for College Board and she currently lives and works in Austin, Texas.
